TouchTunes Corporation, the largest on-location digital
entertainment network, today announced the results of a recent holiday
survey of more than 84,500 TouchTunes users across North America. The
survey, which was presented on more than 17,000 TouchTunes interactive
music systems during a one week period from November 14 to November 21,
revealed that a surprising number of customers rated being kissed on
New Year’s Eve as more important than meeting someone new, watching
their weight over the holiday season, or getting all the right gifts
this year. The survey also polled customers on what types of gifts
they were giving and expecting, their activities at holiday parties,
where they like to spend the holidays and their drinking habits over
the holiday season.
“As the largest interactive out-of-home entertainment network,
TouchTunes reaches a broad cross section of the 21-34 year old
demographic where they socialize – at neighborhood bars, restaurants
and clubs. Our easy-to-use music systems encourage interactivity
resulting in a high rate of participation in our surveys, allowing us
to collect valuable data about our customers’ habits and preferences,”
said Ron Greenberg, TouchTunes CMO and vice president of digital
media. “This helps keep us in tune with our users and makes us a very
attractive advertising and marketing partner. For the holiday season,
we decided to have some fun and find out how people prefer to spend
their holidays, what is most important to them and what gifts they’re
anticipating giving and getting.”
Survey Highlights:
- Family: 35% of respondents said visiting family during the holidays
is more important than going to a tropical island, staying home or
spending time in a snowy cabin in the mountains.
- Music: 42% of respondents said they still prefer rock and roll
music to holiday tunes – even during the holiday season. But, “Jingle
Bell Rock” topped the list of favorite holiday songs (32%), with “The
Christmas Song” (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) coming in at the
bottom of people’s preferences.
- Drinking Habits: When asked how many drinks they planned to have at
the company holiday party, 48% of respondents indicated they would have
more than five drinks. Meanwhile, about 36% indicated that they should
probably drink less during the season. About 24% of respondents
indicated that their boss should drink less during the season and 17%
indicated that their spouse should cut down on the holiday spirits.
- Being kissed on New Year’s Eve is more important for TouchTunes
patrons (34%) than meeting someone new, watching their weight, or
getting all the right gifts.
