Originally launching the first fully digital pay-per-play jukebox in 1998, TouchTunes is present in over 60,000 bars and restaurants in North America, and is second only to iTunes in volume of paid music downloads. Fans play an average of 2 million songs a day on TouchTunes devices, accessing a growing library of 3 million hit songs as well as music by local, independent artists. The company grasped the power of the Internet, digital media, and touchscreens at the emergence of those technologies and has kept the name TouchTunes ever since in respect of that visionary moment.
In 2010, TouchTunes took the jukebox mobile, debuting an app capable of playing jukeboxes from users' smartphones. With over 1.9 million downloads to date, it is one of the largest in-venue mobile commerce apps in existence, enabling users to search for songs, create playlists, network with other TouchTunes fans, and more, all from the convenience of their smartphone.
TouchTunes went on to harness advances in cloud computing and network technologies and did it again, this time reimagining the jukebox as a multi-application platform beyond music. We started by reinterpreting the iconic experiences of Karaoke and PhotoBooth.
